Season Creep
Project Underwing, Toronto
25 August - 5 October 2024

Season Creep is a site specific project inspired by phenological observations and an interest in rudimentary divination and forecasting tools. Sun prints and sculptural objects act as analog recording devices for atmospheric changes in their vicinity. Overriding the function of wooden vernacular tools used to foretell good and inclement weather, these ersatz weather sticks are scattered among the wild garden’s undergrowth, guiding the experience of looking as their patina changes over time in response to their micro environments.

The exhibition is concerned with natural cycles and their disruption, domesticity, work, plant life, and how people and things are mutually shaped by their surroundings.

Cast bronzes, cyanotype on broadcloth, oil paint on dyed canvas, sage dye, sumac dye, brass hardware, aluminum gromets and chain, garden wire, repurposed metal pipe armature, white thread.
